The South

The South is the southern part of the island where rains are rare, a savannah kingdom composed of a thorny thicket with endemic species such as Pachypodiums, Euphorbia, Didiéraceae. The middle plateau of Horombe is surmounted by the massive Isalo classified National Park. Its formation of Jurassic sandstone plagued by erosion that has dug deep canyons gives it a ruiniform appearance.
